Junior Aly Lawless:

Q: Why do you still trick or treat?

A: “I’ve done it since I was young. I know I’m 17 years old and usually by then people are like ‘Okay, you need to stop it,’ but I think it’s still fun to do with your friends.”

Q: What is your favorite part of trick or treating?

A:  “I love dressing up. For five years in a row when I was younger I dressed up as Tinker Bell because I was blonde as a kid.”

Q: Why do you think high schoolers stop trick or treating?

A: “I think that there is this big stereotype around your age and once you hit a certain age you’re not allowed to trick or treat anymore. As long as you’re having fun and you’re not ruining it for the younger kids who really should be trick or treating, then I don’t think there is really a problem with it because you’re just having fun.”

Senior Howard Thomas:

Q: Why do you still trick or treat?

A: “I still like getting candy every Halloween. I’ve always trick or treated and I like dressing up. It’s really fun.”

Q: Where is the best place for trick or treating?

A: “[The best place was] where I used to live, which was around the Shawnee Mission school district. They would always have the most chocolate. I would rather get chocolate than the old candy, the old hard bubble gum.”

Q: When do most people stop trick or treating, and why do they stop?

A: “I feel like they all stop around sophomore year because their friends pressure them and they feel like they are too old, but I think they should keep trick or treating if they want to because it’s always fun.”
