At 7:28 p.m. on Thursday night, sophomore Reagan Whitworth struck a softball deep into the outfield, earning the BVNW girls softball team a triple in the bottom of the fourth inning of a double header series against Blue Valley North. BVNW went on to win the game 11-4.

Whitworth said she was proud of her team’s performance and coordination, which were factors in their win.

“I think we did really well,” Whitworth said. “We all worked together, and beating North is always a goal.”

Head coach Kim White was equally proud of the team’s performance. White said the team’s accuracy and power were what made the win so admirable.

“We hit the ball hard,” White said. “On the night we had 32 hits; 17 in the first game, 15 in the second game. When you’re hitting like that, good things are going to happen.”

The double header series was for the Pink Out, an event held to raise money for cancer research. White said the turnout was great considering the weather conditions.

“We were really happy with the turnout on Pink Out night; a night where the weather was cold and windy,” White said. “To have fans in the stands to support a really important cause to us…means a lot.”

The team’s next game will be next Thursday, April 16 at Mill Valley.
