I have a routine. Well, I had a routine. I would leave school, drive straight down 135th Street to the Taco Bell near Twister’s and Walgreen’s, pull up to the drive thru window and order two items from the dollar menu-usually, the spicy tostada and the chicken quesadilla.

Yesterday, however, while pulling up to that familiar speakerphone, something new caught my eye.

“$5 Cravings Deal-Limited Time Only”

Bewildered but xi-ted, I decided to take a gander and order it.

Thoughts: The $5 Cravings Deal comes in a box instead of the typical fast food sack, so basically, it’s Christmas, and I’m already sold. Opening it was (as expected) a magical moment, and I was happily surprised to find the sheer amount of food in that box. Do you know that feeling when you open a package of chocolates only to find that 95% of the package is plastic and inedible? Yeah, not with this box.

This box contains one Burrito Supreme, one Cheesy Gordita Crunch, one crunchy taco, chips with nacho cheese and a medium Mountain Dew. If the notion that the $5 Cravings Deal is truly a steal is still not apparent, I crunched some numbers while crunching a crunchy taco, just for you:

Burrito Supreme: $2.99*

Cheesy Gordita Crunch: $2.89*

Crunchy taco: $1.19*

Chips with cheese: $1.49*

Medium soda: $1.99*

Total: $10.55 plus tax

$5 Cravings Deal: $5.00 plus tax

*Prices according to https://www.tacobell.com/

The numbers speak for themselves, and the food itself was as cheesy and gas-inducingly delicious, as always. Taco ‘bout a deal!

Reservations: I have no reservations, but I do have some advice on tackling the pounds of food. If you don’t like your cheese cold and stiff, eat the chips and cheese first. Something about that nacho cheese makes it solidify very quickly, but don’t let that little detail deter you from trying it. After finishing the chips and cheese, you’re free to eat the rest of the items in whatever order you choose. Personally, I ate the Cheesy Gordita Crunch first, the Supreme Burrito second and finally, I stuffed in the crunchy taco. However, if, more like when, I order this again, I would eat the Supreme Burrito first, because the soft tortilla becomes heavy, floppy and hard-to-hold rather quickly. Regardless of what order you eat the items in the $5 Cravings Deal, however, you surely end up with a full and happy stomach. What’s the saying, again? Happy stomach, happy life?

Aftermath: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Final verdict: If I could be a Disney princess, I would be Taco Belle.
