The boys varsity soccer team defeated Olathe North 5-0 last night in the state quarterfinals game, granting them a spot in the state semifinals.

BVNW jumped ahead early in the game, scoring four goals in the first half alone, two of which were scored within the first fifteen minutes.

Peyton Brown, who scored the first two goals of the game, said he felt BVNW played exceptionally well.

“I thought we played really well, moved the ball around really well, finished really well, all around just really well,” Brown said.

BVNW only scored once in the second half, because according to head coach Rick Pribyl, Olathe North adjusted to them and BVNW’s players were beginning to get tired.

“We didn’t lose our cool, and really just played together as a team all the way,” Pribyl said.

The team does not know yet who they will be playing in Friday’s state semifinal game at the College Boulevard Activity Center in Olathe.

“Depending on who we play I would say, just keep attacking, finishing the chances we get,” Brown said. “We can’t win if we don’t get the points.”
