The boys varsity basketball team defeated Blue Valley West in the substate game today, 68-50. Today’s win will allow the Huskies to continue in their pursuit of the State title.

BVNW had a lead over BVW throughout the entire game. Junior Darien Jackson said he thought the team played well throughout the whole game.

“We played from beginning to end, so that’s really helpful,” Jackson said.

Head coach Ed Fritz said this game was a good experience for the players in their run for the State championship.

“It was a complete game for our bigs and our guards,” Fritz said. “West is a really good team, so I was happy with the win.”

The Huskies will compete against Blue Valley North this Saturday in their next round of the State playoffs. Fritz said this rivalry game is going to be big for both teams.

“We’re going to play Blue Valley North,” Fritz said. “It’s a huge rival, so it’s going to be a big game for us. They’re going to probably have something up their sleeve for us, and we’re going to have to do a good job with it.”
